# FROM_NUMBER_REQUIRED

> Blujay can't tell which number to send from

## What happened

You left out `from` when starting a direct chat. The person hasn't texted any of your numbers, you have several, and the contact isn't assigned to a teammate with an active default line. Blujay never guesses a number.

## How to fix it

Send `from`, or assign the contact to a teammate and set that teammate's default line in Team Members. The error message names the teammate when one is assigned.
